Jake 230 Posted January 9, 2018 Hello everyone, today I will cover a much debated topic. This topic being whether certain builds should be bringing a scim into CWA or a spear. Of course, with all debates, it can be solved with the almighty and all hated statistics. I'll be looking at the accuracy of the scim spec with different builds, and against different opponents. Note: Protect prayers do not change the accuracy of hits, they simply recude incoming damage by 40%. Thus, I wont be taking into account what prayer the spec is against as it does not matter. All att/def bonuses are based on Veng official clan wars gear for the respective build we are discussing. I will first post the defense roll for each of the three builds being considered, zerk, med and tank. Then I will refer back to them as needed. (All effective lvls assume best def prayer is being used). (All stat bonuses assume p neck is on). (Certain gear setups may vary slightly; however, this wont change the overall results much at all). Defense roll for 45 def zerk: 72(202+64) = 19,152(The outside 72 being effective lvl and 202 being slash def bonus). Defense roll for 75 def med: 121(198+64) = 31,702(Close to a maxed tank! Incredible!) Defense roll for 99 def tank: 131(180+64) = 31,964(Note this is without defense potting!) With def potion: 155(178+64) = 37,510. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ We will now look at the attack rolls for different builds. We will include 60att zerk, 75att zerk, 99att zerk, 60att med and 75att med. We will also consider the accuracy with and without rune defenders as well as considering warrior ring(i) in 60att cases.(Note dragon scim spec increases your accuracy for the hit by 25%). Attack roll for 60tt zerk: 93(88+64) = 14,136(With warrior ring(i) without defender). With Defender: 93(107+64) = 15,903. Attack roll for 75att zerk: 112(80+64) = 16,128(No warrior ring or defender). With defender: 112(99+64) = 18,256. Attack roll for 99att zerk: 143(80+64) = 20,592(No warrior ring or defender). With defender: 143(99+64) = 23,309. Attack roll for 60att med: 96(88+64) = 14,592(With warrior ring(i) without defender). With defender: 96(107+64) = 16,416. Attack roll for 75att med: 117(80+64) = 16,848(No warrior ring or defender). With defender: 117(99+64) = 19,071. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ A few interesting things to note: First, the defense rolls for a 75 def med and a 99 def tank are almost identical! This is extremely interesting and shows the real power of a med lvl. The added def bonuses from granite boots and fire cape along with the super def pot given by super combat potion allows them to tank with the same effectiveness. Second, 60/75 attack meds and zerks have extremely close attack rolls. This isn't too surprising seeing as the gear is nearly identical, the only difference being piety gives 20% attack bonus rather than 15%, although that isn't a big deal when the attack lvls of the two builds are the same. Third, defenders really help out with the attack rolls, and we will see how this translates into percent accuracy increases below. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ As mentioned above, zerks and meds of the same attack lvl have extremely close attack rolls. Thus, I will just be looking at the 3 berserker builds, and meds of the same att lvl can be seen as having nearly identical accuracy rates. Also, because meds and tanks have nearly the same defense roll when tanks are not defense potted, the accuracy against a med will be almost identical to that of a tank(although we will consider using defense potions to see the difference). Accuracy of a 60att zerk(without defender): Accuracy against 45 def zerk = 14,136/38,306 = .369~37%. Using D scim spec bonus gives 46%. Accuracy against med and tank = 14,136/63,406 = 22%. With spec bonus is 27%. Accuracy against defense potted tank = 14,136/75,022 = 23% after spec bonus considered. With defender: 51%(against zerk), 31%(against tank and med), and 26%(against potted tank). Accuracy of 75att zerk(without defender): Nearly identical to 60att zerk with defender as seen above using attack rolls. With defender: 59%(against zerk), 36%(against tank and med), and 30%(against potted tank). Accuracy of 99att zerk(wiothout defender): 66%(against zerk), 40%(against tank and med), 34%(against potted tank). 23,309 With defender: 73%(against zerk), 46%(against tank and med), 38%(against potted tank). ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ In Conclusion: These results aren't all that surprising as far as the accuracy goes. It is nice to have concrete numbers with and against certain builds though. It is really up to the situation to determine whether you should be using scim/spear. Looking at the values for 60att zerks/meds they really struggle to hit anybody other than a 45def zerk(although 75att med/zerks arent much better). It's more realistic to look at the numbers excluding a defense potted tank, although the percentages are interesting to notice. Notice also that even a 99att zerk has under a 50% chance of hitting a d scim spec on a med/tank even with defender equipped. Doing a few more calculations we notice that at 85att and defender equipped a zerker has a 40% chance to hit a med/tank. I believe 40% is a fair cutoff line for accuracy, and 85att could be a good standard for d scims if we have enough of them in the clan. Also, d scim accuracy is quite high against 45def zerks as expected. However, the question you have to ask is do you really need that d scim spec to kill the zerk? Or should you save it for a harder target even if the chance to hit is lower? It most likely depends on how many members are in the CWA and if it is knockout or not.(Again if there are any errors in this post please let me know so I can correct them). Trouserdevil 439 Posted January 9, 2018 Ty for the informative post. Good read, and an even better tl;dr. Very surprised about how durable a med is. A couple of comments though, it appears that you are using supercb as the def potion of choice, but everyone brings brews, which boost 2 more def levels at 99 def, 1 more at 75 and 70 def, but boosts the same as supercb for 45 def. I would think most people will sip a brew before someone scims them, with the only time that wouldnt happen being a scim right as the person was piled.Second, I am seeing more tanks bringing granite top as a switch rather than the dhide top, it would be interesting to see the comparison between dhide top and granite top in terms when tanking. IE what ratio of mages to nonmages have to be there to warrant using dhide top 1 Sybren reacted to this Share this post Link to post

Guest LilRyan Posted January 10, 2018 Really nice to see the actual numbers typed out. I wasn't aware of a good amount of the info, but the conclusion seems to be what I thought. Share this post Link to post
