Where on Gielinor have you been, Lotty...?   B)

A few weeks ago, I finally started to think about how I was going to begin training my magic levels, as they've been neglected for so, so long.

I came up with a plan that involved slaying approx. 30,500 metal dragons from levels 69-80, crafting all of my blood runes for my casts.  It was the most stable idea I could come up with for decent magic xp per hour, as well as it being semi-AFK.  I reused an idea for a drop log that I had made for collecting crimson charms from Waterfiends back in 2012, I called it my ccc (crimson charm count) log and recorded every drop that I was given, including clue rewards.  Of course, as a given, it would be without charms.

eg.

June 11

63,114 gp

84 dragon bone(s)

0(-420) metal bars (assort. iron and steel)

2 runite bar(s)

1 rune med helm(s)

4 runite limb(s)

27 rune dart(s) (p)

22 runite bolt(s)

0 runite knive(s)

39 runite javelin(s)

2 adamantite bar(s)

2 adamant battleaxe(s)

1 adamant 2h(s)

1 adamant kite shield(s)

1 adamant sq shield(s)

3 adamant (axe) hachet(s)

27 adamant bolt(s)

205 blood rune(s)

14 soul rune(s)

0 half loop key(s)

0 half tooth key(s)

0(-2) curries

1 emerald(s)

0(-3) super strength potion(s) (1)

0(-1) hard clue scroll(s)

*Colour-coding the drops made it easier to read when I'm in the middle of slaying dragons.

However, there was a couple dilemmas that occurred:

1)  Casts per dragons.

~30,500 metal dragons would not be the correct amount of dragons from levels 69-80 Magic, as I required ~30,500 casts from those levels.  This would decrease the amount of dragons that I have to slay by half or three quarters.

2) Costs for 80-94 Magic.

Even though it's a nice thought, expecting that I would receive a dragonic visage as a drop, or a piece of third age armour from a clue reward, is extremely unlikely.  Every time I'd tell a friend I received a hard clue scroll as a drop or about my ambitions for my levels, they would tell me, "Oh, gl on vissy!", "In b4 visage drop", "I'm calling third age!"

Let me tell you, by having high expectations means having the highest of doubts.  Expectations means that one is raising the bar a bit too high and hoping on things that may never occur.  I can't be expecting to receive drops that I may never receive and adding them into the equation of my drops or gp additions.  It's only setting me up for failure and is a very unstable way of thinking.  I tend to take a more practical and realistic approach to these kinds of things.  I calculate what I will actually receive and then everything else is just a bonus.  However, I never expect to receive anything, therefore, I am never disappointed.  It's just a game.  No reason to expect that the probability of 1:10,000 would benefit me at all.  It's the same thing with the third age armour, the probability is extremely high, and I can't even complete all the hard clue scroll drops.  So, expecting that each clue scroll is third age is silly.   :P

Either way, I was still doing a lot of brainstorming at this time.  I didn't have a lot of money and couldn't figure out how to do magic training in a way that was efficient and effective, but also an acceptable AFK method.  Auto-clickers, mouse-keys, hotkeys, and F-keys, have been all shuffled to the side.  I don't use OSBuddy, so there's another part that has been shuffled.  Wracking my brain, I began to wonder what on Earth to do, as most magic training methods are extremely expensive.  All the calculations were starting to make my head hurt and I was confused of where to turn, but I kept my options open as I possibly could.

Meanwhile, I started out small.  It started out simply with slaying these dragons.  And Void was enough for the first couple of levels.

But during this time, I began to also realise that, if I wanted to have the best possible magic bonus while I trained, I would have to obtain barrows gloves.

Frustrated as I was, as I heavily distaste being forced to quest, I began questing.  I was a woman on a mission!

At the time, I had around ~160 qp, so it wasn't as terrible as I'd hoped.  I didn't have many more quests to go.  And ended up managing to do 9 quests in 2 days; ultimately, achieving my barrows gloves.

Mind you, I stayed up until the very end.  It was around 3-4 a.m. when I finally achieved them, but it was completely worth it!

It's officially a week ago today, obtaining them on 10 June, 2016.

Returning to the point:

How was I going achieve 80-94 Magic?

My two close friends Bawby and Nightmare have been guiding me, as far as combat comes.  Bawby really knows this game inside and out, and has been an excellent help thus far.  I'm so happy that he's my friend.  And Nightmare is a total combat noob.  But I love him for it!  He's been throwing off ideas at me and assisting me with my brainstorming.

Slowly, I realised, after many magic calculations later... that maybe training Magic with the String Jewellery spell might be the best for me and my current situation.  The ultimate problem came down to costs and my combat level.

I figured that obtaining my combat level was the easy part.  The hard part was always going to have enough money.

My cash stack at the time was pretty low, about ~5.5m, and levels 80-94 Magic costs approximately 40.2-45.6m.  This all depended on if I wanted to create all of my own gold amulets or not.  If I did, I saved 5.3m gp.  This is a huuuuge chunk of money!

I wanted to save as much as I could, so I was pretty set on making all 71,790 amulets myself.  I slowly convinced myself that making all of those would take ages, and it also would be an eyesore to have all those gold bars in my bank.  I finally compromised with making half and buying half of the gold amulets.  ~34k seemed like a more reasonable amount and wouldn't take quite as long to do.

What was I left with...?

Obtaining MONEY!

How on Earth was I going to obtain 50m for just Magic?  I couldn't figure it out.  I don't stake, I don't buy my gp.  I don't really even skill.  Then it hit me...

Why don't I just runecraft...?   B)

I figured that crafting my own astrals seemed like the best way to go about this.  I am a runecrafter, afterall, and this is absolutely perfect for me.

I've altered my plans a few times since I started this goal, too.  I originally was going to craft the runes necessary for 80-94 Magic, which happens to be 150k astral runes, but then I realised how consistent the xp/hr was at astrals.

My original plans consisted of crafting 150k astral runes, 100k nature runes and 75k blood runes, but all of these combined would of these would take approximately 30-40 days to craft, if that.  That's if I decided to craft everyday for 8-10 hours a day.

As much as I love Runecrafting, I had to put my foot down on this one!  No, thank you!  I wanted to spend all my time training magic, not crafting runes.  It was about money, but also being efficient.  And this wasn't an efficient way to use my time.

I ended up tossing my original plans and making plans completely around astrals.

650k astrals is now my goal.

150k astrals will be put aside specifically for 80-94 Magic.  All the rest of the astrals that I craft, which is 500k astrals, will be put towards my bank for spending.  Which means I'll finally have money!  Lol, I haven't had above 10m for so long, and have been skimping and saving to preserve what I have.

So, that's what I've been doing, representing Vengeance all the way!

Now, I've been called all kinds of things during this.   :P

*Queue the bags of salt.   :salty: :salty:  :salty:  :salty:  :salty:

All I can say is that... Everyone has a skill that they would rather be putting time into.  Honestly, ask anyone.  Everyone will tell you a different answer.  They all create money, and at the end of the day, we need everyone to take part in what they like doing to make the game stay balanced.

We need runecrafters as much as we need people who hunt.  Chins are a staple in this game for many, just as steel and mithril darts are for those who spend their time in Nightmare Zone.  Everyone does their part to keep the status quo of the game.

Each of us have something that we have contributed to this game, and mine happens to be Runecrafting.  I've always have been a runecrafter and always will be.

You can call me what you'd like, as I've heard the array of terms so many times before, but this is just what I do.  I do what I love.

I will always be the little runecrafter who slays until the day I die.  It's just who I am.

For all those who reached the end of this post, thanks for reading about what I've been up to.

I tend to have my pm set to off and opt. out of the Clan Chat when I'm runecrafting for the best efficiency of xp per hour.  I hope that helps as far as why I've not been involved on TeamSpeak, in the Clan Chat or online to pm.

Dually note that I miss all of you very much, but I'm also doing this so I can join faster!  I am also going for 99 Runecrafting, so it's a perfect compromise for me.

I wish the rest of you all the best to achieve your goals!

If you put your mind to it, you can do anything!

Love you all very much,

~Lotty

Hey there, Balanced!  Thank you so much.  It was actually a lot of fun to achieve them.

And, haha, I just felt it was only fair to catch everyone up on where I've been...   :P

The thing is...I was never really gone!  I was just in temporary hiding.  It's probably going to be like this for awhile, though, unfortunately.

But, I figured, it's best to let everyone know that I'm doing just fine and that my account's still on track.  Just taking a bit of a detour.   B)

And thanks, Balanced!  I missed ya!
