The quest grind up to barrows gloves is pretty fast if you've ever built up multiple accounts. Basically quest as much XP as possible early and you can make insane progress.

The part that sucks is after barrows gloves because there's no overarching goal and questing barely gives useful XP by the time you get to that point.
