Jake 230 Posted December 1, 2017 Hey everyone, there was a lengthy debate today in the cc about whether a maxed med or a maxed zerk would be better for clanning. So i've decided to break it all down that way the information is out there. First I'll start with a maxed med lvl, going over cb lvl, max hit, dps, and tankyness. Then I'll move on to the zerker and compare the two at the end. (has been updated with ZGS for zerkers as requested) Maxed Med: Att:75, Str:99, Def:75, Ranged:99, Mage:99, Prayer:99, Hitpoints:99. Combat lvl:112. Now for the max hit(all stat bonuses are based on a wilderness gear setup that an accepted applicant used in their application). Max with ZGS:53(spec not included), Max with ranged:41(using rune c bow and runite bolts).(Both values assume the best prayer possible is used). DPS: For this section I will assume all attacks are made against a maxed ranged tank, and the attacks were made against the appropriate prayer. (All probabilities are based on official rs numbers) The max defence roll for a maxed tank with augury active is 155(163+64) = 35,185. (155 being the effective def lvl and 163 being the defence bonus for the attack style used against them) Now for the max attack roll of the maxed med: Using piety and ZGS with wilderness gear this becomes 117(150+64) = 25,038.(Again, effective lvl is 117 and gear bonuses for current attack style is 150) Thus, the max attack roll is lower than the max defence roll. Now referring to the forum again it states that if max attack roll is lower than max defence then accuracy = (max attack roll)/(2*(max defence roll + 1). Based on the above numbers this gives 25,038/70,372 = .355 ~ 35.5% chance to hit. Now the ZGS attacks once every 3.6 seconds, thus we can determine the dps using a ZGS. We can round our accuracy up to 36%, then use a sample of 100 hits. Of these hits, we can say 64 will be 0 and 36 will be randomly generated between 0 and 53. Averaging these 2 values we see these 36 hits will have an average damage of ~ 27. Averaging these over 100 hits we get (27*36 + 0*64)/100 = 9.72 damage on average per hit. Now because each hit takes 3.6 seconds we see the DPS is 2.7. Now for the ranged accuracy: Similarly as above, the attack roll for the maxed med is 149(157+64) = 32,929. The max defence roll is 155(173+64) = 36,735. Therefore our accuracy is 32,929/73,472 = .448 ~ 44.8%. Using similar methods as above we get that our DPS with ranged becomes 3. Assuming we are using these two attacks evenly, we can average these two DPS values to conclude the maxed med has a DPS of 2.85 on a maxed tank. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Maxed Zerker: Att:99, Str:99, Def:45, Ranged:99, Mage:99, Prayer:99, Hitpoints:99. Combat lvl:112 Max with tent whip:38, Maxed with ranged:39, Max with ZGS:49. Using similar methods as above we can find our max attack role for tent whip to be 146(108 + 64) = 25,112. And for ZGS to be 143(150+64) = 30,602. The defence roll does not change in this case because ZGS and tent whip both use slash attack styles. Thus, our accuracy for tent whip becomes 25,112/70,032 = .358 ~ 35.8% chance to hit. We can now calculate our DPS for tent whip as 2.85. Then, for ZGS our accuracy is 30,602/70,032 = .436 ~ 43.6% chance to hit. Giving us a DPS for ZGS of 2.99. Now our ranged attack roll becomes 146(152 + 64) = 31,536. Again, the ranged defence roll does not change. Giving us an accuracy of 31,536/73,472 = .429 ~ 42.9%. Thus, our DPS with ranged is 2.32. (These calculations assume you are using the crossbow on accurate)(the DPS is 2.73 on rapid) Averaging these two values we see the maxed zerker has a DPS of 2.58 on a maxed tank when using tent whip and accurate ranged.(remember this assumes you are not wearing a rune defender, but rather an ordinary shield with no attack/str bonus) If we take the ZGS and rapid ranged DPS average we get a DPS of 2.82 for the maxed zerker. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Thus, the maxed med has more DPS than a maxed zerker and it has more ability to tank. It seems for clanning a maxed med would be the most optimal route to go down. Although of course people should play what they are more interested in playing, I found this information pretty interesting. (All calculations could be totally off and be meaningless, so take it all with a grain of salt. If any mistakes are noticed please message me so i can correct them). TL;DR --- Maxed Med > Maxed Zerk 5 Avidius, AncientRick, Ocarina and 2 others reacted to this Share this post Link to post

Sybren 2,255 $ DONATOR $ Posted December 1, 2017 VERY interesting read @@Jake I appreciate you taking the time for this to share it with the rest the of clan. All tho it's very important to notice that the Melee DPS is higher on a Maxed Zerk. And the Maxed Zerk is able to wear a shield based on the setup used in your calculations. It would be interesting to see the Melee DPS on a Maxed Zerk with a ZGS as well. Without Rigour I'm pretty sure the Range DPS evens out. If all prayers are bought just like you mentionned a Maxed Med would be more beneficial. Another great aspect about the Med Builds is that they can use the same Attack Style as a Range Tank (meaning Maging/Ranging/Tanking). Which would fill in the lack of DPS or Freezers during a fight as they're versatile. ------------------------------ Overall my POV is that if you're going to have one account in our clan the Med Build would be your best best as they're versatile. If you're willing to play accounts for the clan a Maxed Zerk and a Maxed Range Tank would be most beneficial. Share this post Link to post

Jake 230 Posted December 1, 2017 why r u comparing a zgs on one build to a tent on the other build lol these are what the different builds use, 99 attack zerks use tent whips while meds use zgs. Share this post Link to post
