SEMI-AFK NMZ GUIDE FOR ZERKERS! (55k-60k xp/hr)

 

This will be my first (of possibly many) guides posted on this forum.  

 

"The Nightmare Zone , commonly referred to as NMZ, is a combat-based mini game that is located north of Yanille, northwest of the bank. The mini game involves players having "dreams" to fight bosses they have fought before in quests."

 

 

A little bit of history from 2007scape Wiki:

 

Dominic did not plan on calling his business the Nightmare Zone; it was what the local folk have been calling it. The plan came to him in a vivid dream when he was younger where he saw his father murdered by a pack of angry chaos dwarves. He told his father about it, who laughed and said he should be a banker like his ancestors. He refused and wanted to find out what that dream meant, so he studied to find out more about Magic, particularly oneiromancy and dream interpretation. Once he had learned enough, he left Lunar Isle attempting to find the location where he built the huge tower. Since he had not found it or gathered enough money for its construction, he decided to set up a small business north of Yanille selling dreams to people.

 

If you have not played before, I suggest doing a couple games to rack up points for overloads.

 

GEAR

 

What makes this method semi-AFK and efficient is a high prayer bonus. In that case, we will be focusing on a high prayer bonus.

 

My gear setup is shown in the picture below.

 

 

-God Mitre ----------------(+5 prayer)

-Proselyt Hauberk --------(+8 prayer)

-Proselyt Cruisse ---------(+6 prayer)

-Holy Sandals -------------(+3 prayer)

-Ardougne Cloak 2 -------(+4 prayer)

-God Blessing ------------(+1 prayer)

-God Book ----------------(+5 prayer)

-Amulet of Fury -----------(+5 prayer/+8 strength)

-Dragon Scimitar ---------(+66 strength)

-Berserker Ring (i) --------(+8 strength imbued / +4 unimbued)

-Barrows Gloves ---------(+12 strength)

 

THIS SETUP IS A MELEE SETUP. However, you could go down a ranged route by replacing the gear with some blessed hide  ava's, and the weapon for MSB, dorgeshuun crossbow, knives, or toxic blowpipe. It's up to you.. Just take the information here and convert it over so you can train ranged. I know that's how ill be training ranged . I cannot guarantee xp/hr since I haven't started training ranged in NMZ yet. AS LONG AS YOU KEEP THE PRAYER BONUS HIGH, you'll be good.

 

Obviously, some may not have all this gear... so you can substitute holy sandals for white boots (+1 pray), fury for glory, berserker ring for explorer ring 1/2 (+1 prayer)... and so forth. Rune gloves instead of barrows. Defender instead of god book. I could go on and on. Just do your best to maximize your prayer points. 

 

This set up provides a +37 prayer bonus. Prayer will drain fairly slow and this is what makes this method more AFK than someone in maxed strength gear. 

 

 

high prayer bonus = less prayer pots = very cost efficient.

 

especially if you use a holy wrench and an ancient mace. 

 

 

 

This inventory includes 6 overloads and 10 prayer potions.

 

Each dose of overload will last 5 minutes. You will be using 3 overload potions and roughly 4 prayer potions per hour. 

-You can get overloads from the mini game by going to the rewards chest and purchasing them by DOSE. Each does will cost you 1,500pts. Once inside the area where you drink the dream potion, you will see barrels. Take overloads (24 doses = 6 overloads)

-Prayer potions are 12k each. You will be losing roughly 50k p/hr. However, I suggest you buy or go kill some monsters for ranarr seeds and farm your own ranarrs. You will need 38 herblore and 32 farming. This is also how you can profit from farming, by doing herb runs, but thats another topic. 

 

Holy Wrench (a reward from Rum Deal quest, not required but helpful) - It gives one extra prayer point per dose assuming your prayer level is between 26-85.

 

Ancient Mace (a reward from Another Slice of H.A.M. quest, extremely helpful) - Its special attack uses 100% but by the damage you inflict, it will restore your prayer points. ONE for ONE. It can also be used to raise prayer points above level. If you are lvl 52 prayer with full prayer points and you hit an 18 with the special attack; you will raise your prayer points up to 70. This is VERY useful when you get the POWER SURGE power up in NMZ.

 

Granite Maul - I like to use it when I get the POWER SURGE power up AFTER i have already restored my prayer points above its maximum with the ancient mace. As the power surge power-up basically gives you infinite special attack bar, you can get the MOST DAMAGE PER SECOND with the gmaul as its special attack is INSTANT.

 

SWEET DREAMING IN NIGHTMARE ZONE

 

You will need 60+ attack, 70+ strength, and 43+ prayer. You should have high hitpoints as well. A dose of overload will inflict 50hp damage but AFTER the 5 minutes, the overload will wear off and your stats will go back to normal.

There are three game modes:

 

-Practice

-Endurance

-Rumble

 

Each mode can be played on two difficulties, NORMAL and HARD.

 

Today we will be playing CUSTOMIZABLE HARD RUMBLE.

 

Each game will require a payment of 26,000 coins (hard) or 22,000 coins (hard) for a custom rumble.

-FIGHT ARENA -----------------(Bouncer) ---------------- 12,190pts (~3,474pts) 
-THE GRAND TREE ------------(Black Demon) ---------- 17,561pts (~5,004pts)

****maximum points listed are for hard mode but the points in the parenthesis are the points you will get doing this method. A DREAM OF 5 BOSSES = 28.5% of the boss' maximum points. Feel free to add more bosses to increase the points per kill, however, this method is pretty efficient for me as far as pts/hr and xp/hr. 

 

These bosses only attack with melee, so you can PROTECT FROM MELEE the entire time. You will also be maximizing your points. 

 

In order to start a dream, speak with Dominic and choose Rumble, then customizable.

 

YOU WILL CHOOSE THE BOSSES YOU FIGHT WHEN YOU DRINK THE DREAM POTION PRIOR TO ENTERING THE ARENA. DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO DREAM OR YOU WILL ENTER A DREAM UNPREPARED.

 

Once you are geared up, drink the dream potion and you will enter the dream world.

 

Run to the center of the arena and wait. Once you see yellow dots on the minimap, turn on protect from melee and drink a dose of overload. You will take 50 damage but once the 5 minutes is up, the overload will wear off and your stats will revert to normal as i stated prior.

 

YOU CAN AFK FOR 5 MINUTES AT A TIME AS LONG AS YOU KEEP YOUR PRAYER UP AND THEN YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE ANOTHER SIP OF OVERLOAD.

 

I suggest taking a sip of prayer potion when you get to 20 prayer points (as one dose will give you 20 prayer points with a holy wrench). Keep them low but not too low as you will eventually see POWER SURGE and then you'll be able to get your prayer points up high by using ancient mace without burning through supplies. This will help you last longer.

 

 

POWER UPS

 

2007scape Wiki:

In Rumble mode, there are power-ups that spawn somewhere in the arena randomly and gives a player a temporary advantage against the bosses within the arena. There are four power-ups, each with an individual colour denoting its use:

• Recurrent damage - Red in colour, using this power-up deals extra damage whenever you hit. The extra damage does NOT give exp. The extra damage is dependent on your initial damage, damaging the monster 3/4 of the initial damage. For example, hitting a 35 will deal an extra 26 damage upon the monster. This power-up lasts 45 seconds.
• Zapper - Purple in colour, using this power-up damages nearby monsters. The zapper won't damage bosses that are immune to normal attacks (such as the Dagannoth Mother and Tanglefoot). This seems to have a max hit of 8. This power-up lasts 1 minute.
• Power surge - Yellow in colour, using this power-up grants the user unlimited special attack power for a brief period of time. This power-up lasts 45 seconds.
• Ultimate force - White in colour, using this power-up instantly kills all the bosses that are present in the arena. Points will NOT be gained for killing bosses in this manner
  • Kill will count towards slayer task and experience if you dealt some damage to the hitpoints of your assigned monster within Nightmare Zone (e.g. black demons)

Power-ups disappear if they are not activated within 1 minute.

 

DO NOT USE ULTIMATE FORCE! IT WILL KILL ALL THE BOSSES, AND YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THEM TO SPAWN AGAIN. IT WILL HURT YOUR XP AND POINTS PER HOUR.

 

ONLY USE THE POWER-UPS IN YELLOW.

 

WHY AM I DOING THIS?

 

This is a semi-AFKable method. You won't lose too much money opposed to training at bandits with a full inventory full of prayer potions. You can exchange points for rewards such as imbuing slayer helms, black masks, berserker rings, archer rings, and much more. Points can also be exchanged for herb boxes (you can buy 15 per day) which you can open and sell for some cash. I also enjoy the scrolls of redirection. I like to use them on house tele tabs to make trollheim teleport tabs so i can add another patch to my herb runs when I'm on the lunar spell book.

 

Below is a little something from my first hour of NMZ today with the setup shown earlier in this guide.

 

 

55k-60k strength xp/hr.

18k-20k hitpoints xp/hr.

200k+ pts/hr

Made an account to ask if im doing something wrong. I do nmz (rumble, hard) in full dharok's with absorbtion and overload, at 1hp the whole time, and I make a decent amount of points, but nowhere near what the OP claims. Count draynor doesn't even give 2,000 points. Am I missing something?

Thanks for catching that man. I knew I missed a couple things. It will be updated on the guide once I get to a computer. Seemingly, my phone won't let me edit it lol. I still make about 55k-60k xp/hr with 200k pts/hr with my method. I can guarantee you are getting more xp and points per hour though with full DH.
