  1. Hi, if you’re pretty new to this game or just play it occasionally, getting 99 Range takes a lot of time. So I thought I would summarize all my research on speeding this process up into one place. Hope you'll like it. Here’s a short OSRS range guide, which I'll try to regularly update if you like. # Method 1 - AFK with Ammonite Crabs This one is very simple, and depending on your level, you’ll pick in approximately 30-60K+ Range XP, and can achieve 60-99 Range in as little as 15 days with minimal effort. Requirements: Bone Voyage Gear to Wear: MSB + best arrows / Mithril throwing knives Best in slot (BIS) body, legs, helmet, gloves, boots, necklace, ring Inventory: 3-5 Range potions 23-25 Food Steps: Head on to the Fossil Island. Look for Ammonite Crabs near the coasts of the island. To find the best spot – walk to the coastlines most northwestern point. You’ll discover 3+ crabs waiting. Just leave auto retaliate on and you're good to go. Ammonite Crabs drop unidentified fossils, so besides getting Range XP, you'll also get Prayer XP after cleaning them. # Method 2: Cows (for Range 30 and lower only) This one is quite boring, but you have to start somewhere, right? Steps: Go to the Cow field in Lumbridge and keep training on them until you run out of arrows. Also, switch to Coif, Studded Chaps, and Willow Shortbow when you reach 20 Ranged. Now spend the rest of your money on bronze arrows and continue mixing up training time between the Cow field and the Duel arena until you are 40 ranged. Using this method, you can expect an average of 300+ XP (Red Chinchompas) and 450+ XP (Black Chinchompas) per thrown Chinchompa (at 75-99 Range). Requirements: Monkey Madness Gear: You’ll want to wear void for accuracy. Alternatively, equip your best-tiered Runescape ranged armor or the best range gear OSRS offers. Inventory: 4 Range Potions 1 Stamina Potion 1 Super Antipoison 1 Teleport Tab 21 Prayer Potions Steps: Catch a glider to Ape Atoll. Run west to the dungeon, and then sprint north down the tunnel. Soon you’ll bounce into a gang of skeletal monkeys in a large room. Start throwing with your chinchompas. You’ll notice more apes arise from the bone piles. Stand by the southern rock pile under the rocky overhang, focus on targeting the monkey in the middle. Once you see bones pile up, run two diagonal squares northeast. This will allow them to spawn easily. Run between these two squares to maximizes monkey numbers. Note: remember to pray melee and guzzle your prayer potions. As I said, I'll try to keep this thread fresh and updated with other methods. Maybe you have other Range training methods?
  2. What's up guys. Two days ago I've decided to make a Range Tank since I heard they're quite strong overall and especially for clanning. I've rushed through some of the important yet easy quests such as Waterfall Quest, Tree Gnome Village you know, the usual. The actual training part comes after the questing, I just want to get them out of the way so I can focus solely on my combat stats later on. Here are pictures of some quests that I have completed not too long ago: My total QP at the moment: My current stats at the moment: I'll try to keep it short haha. I plan on updating this thread every now and then when I feel like I've made some steady progress. @@Miltz:"I'd encourage all of you guys who are looking for something to do on RS to make a range tank! As I previously mentioned they are so OP for clanning and you'd be giving Vengeance such an advantage over the competition. Next month Vengeance is moving its focus onto levelling the accounts of the players that we have currently, and therefore this is a perfect opportunity for you guys to get involved with making a tank and taking home some prize money in the combat training competition weekends that we will have coming up!" With that said, I hope we can motivate you to start a Range Tank as well because they are such a great contribution to our clan. My account name is Veng Purge, feel free to add me in-game. Edit 4: Alright guys, it's 00:01, 27/06/2016 and I'm just gonna wrap it up with another quick update. We've had a huge war against Revenant today so I wasn't actually able to train a lot on my Range Tank. I updated my total quest points and stats. Quest-wise there isn't really any huge progress, but stat-wise the progress is somewhat visible. Thanks for reading, stay tuned and except more GAINS in the new couple of days! PS: Be sure to 'Follow this topic', an awesome feature that Sybren has added to the forums that can be found at the top right corner to stay updated!
  3. Making a Range Tank

I've decided to make a new Range Tank account. It's pretty efficient to play on my main while leveling up my new account. (Should've done this way earlier) I was wondering if there is anyone who knows what quests, stats, etc. are necessary in order to make a perfect Range Tank. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
  4. Range Data Guide

Hey guys I’m Rigour and today I’m showing the xp rates/cost of some various weapons. Keep in mind these are 30ish minute sample sizes and I’m just doubling the cost by 2. My first test was with broad bolts. Xp/hr : 70.7k Ammo per hour: 346 broad bolts Ammo cost per hour: 20,414 gp/hr (bolts are 59ea) My second test was with rune arrows with magic shortbow (i). This test is skewed for more xp/hr due to me grabbing a few power orbs and speccing to see some nice double splats. I would assume this may be closer to 76k-78k xp/hr Xp/hr: 81.1k Ammo per hour: 672 rune arrows Ammo cost per hour: 77,952 gp/hr (rune arrows are 116ea) My third test was with the karil’s crossbow. Xp/hr: 81.7k xp/hr Ammo per hour: 1902 Ammo cost per hour: 129,336 gp/hr (bolt racks are 68ea) My fourth test was with rune javelins using the heavy ballista. You might notice now I have a necklace of anguish which most likely increased xp/hr by a tad more. For some reason I thought I would get a lot more xp/hr during this due to a range dps calc made back in pre-eoc saying hand cannon was right behind the rune knifes and god arrows. If anyone can link me to the google docs of the range dps calc made by “grimy bunyip” from xp-waste forums, it would be greatly appreciated. Xp/hr: 74.2k xp/hr Ammo per hour: 950 rune javelins Ammo cost per hour: 123,500 gp/hr (rune javelins are 130ea) My fifth test was with mithril darts using the blow pipe. As you can see im still using a necklace of anguish which most likely increased xp/hr a tad more. I calculated the cost differently on this one. Second picture just shows the scales/darts after the trip. Xp/hr: 113.7k xp/hr Gained xp was 76.2 xp/hr. this means I trained for 40.2 mins. After my test was over I checked scales and darts. Scales used: 1247 (scales are 148ea) Darts used: 491 (darts are 67ea) Now after running the numbers it came out to 5409.27 gp/min * 60 mins = 324,556 gp/hr. My sixth test was with runite bolts. I also have gained a range lvl since doing this test so maybe 500 xp an hour more maybe? Xp/hr: 80.0k xp/hr Ammo per hour: 347 runite bolts (as you look at the broad bolts i put down 346 in 1 hour even though it was a 30 minute test) Ammo cost per hour: 54,132 gp/hr (runite bolts are 156ea) Now as I look back on a previous test using the ballista and rune javelins i just dont understand how I got such low xp/hr. Ballista has higher range bonus then rune crossbow & book of law, it also has 30 more range strength bonus then runite bolts, and they both attack at the same speed. Expect a new test on ballista soon. I hope some people found this range data helpful. Thanks Miltz for coming in clutch and fixing my images, i really appreciate it.
